Free Concert for Prostate Cancer UK with Derby A Cappella, Dalesmen Male Voice Choir & Reuben Dakin
Saturday 26 October at 7:00 p.m. St. Alkmund's Church, Duffield, DE56 4BA
There will be a retiring collection for Prostate Cancer U.K.
Free Concert in aid of Prostate Cancer U.K.
In July 2018 I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and received exemplary service at the Royal Derby Hospital. Medication and 37 sessions of radiotherapy resulted in the medical team achieving their objective of curing rather than containing my cancer, but I would like something positive to happen for others as a result of my experience.
I sing with two different groups, the Dalesmen Male Voice Choir and Derby A Cappella, and they have kindly offered to present a concert to raise money for Prostate Cancer U.K., which promotes awareness of the disease and funds research into new, potentially lifesaving, treatments.
In the UK, about 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. According to Prostate Cancer UK, there are now more men who die from prostate cancer every year in the UK, than women who die from breast cancer. It means the male-only disease is now the third most common cancer from which to die, after lung and bowel cancer.
Survival rates are improving but one man dies of prostate cancer every 45 minutes.
The concert will be on Saturday 26 October at 7:00 p.m. at St. Alkmund’s Church in Duffield, DE56 4BA.
Admission will be free, but there will be a retiring collection, where I hope that the new issue £5 & £10 notes will slip easily out of people’s pockets into the collection buckets.
