We are a mixed choir of 40 voices singing 3 and 4 part harmony and our ages range from 20 to 80. In 2011 we celebrated our 60th anniversary.
We sing songs from the Shows, Musicals, Films and Popular songs Past and Present.
We perform two concerts a year, both with a completely different theme and content, in late April and October at the Postmill Centre, South Normanton.
The original choir was formed in September 1951 by the late Wilfred Clarke, who had a distinguished career as a singer and voice coach. His son, Jeff, has been a member of the choir for many years. There were originally 20 members, and by 1974 the choir had grown to more than 60 singers. Their next production will be “A Musical Century” on Saturday, 28th April, 2012, at the Postmill Centre, South Normanton
If you would like to sing with them, the Choral Society rehearses at Swanwick School and Sports College (formerly the Delves) at 7.15 pm on Tuesday evenings. If you are interested in joining the choir you would be made very welcome – (no auditions are required).
