We also deliver self-esteem and body image workshops in both primary and secondary schools. Within the community we raise awareness and offer tailored training packages to healthcare professionals and organizations including; BACP accredited training for counsellors.

Is food controlling your life?

At First Steps Derbyshire, we offer a wide-range of different support groups:

Monday

We have a Art and Craft's Group every Monday from 6pm until 7.30pm. This helps service users to engage in creative actvities, allowing them to express themselves metaphorically. In addition to this, it can also help you improve your confidence; it promotes enjoyment and helps to challenge ingrained views and behaviours.

Tuesday

We have a Chesterfield Support Group for all ages, the third Tuesday every month from 7.00pm until 9.00pm. The first hour covers a topic, which may prove to be useful for recovery, and the rest of the time is for socialising or having a chat with staff and volunteers. Families and friends are welcome to go along to get support from other people in the same situation and to learn about the illness from other sufferers at varying degrees of recovery.

Wednesday

We have a Young Person's Support Group (Under 19s) every Wednesday from 6pm until 8pm. The first hour covers a topic or activity, which may prove useful for recovery, and the rest of the time is for socialising or having a chat with staff or volunteers. We also run positive activities, which give you the chance to have some fun and learn new ways of coping with your eating disorder.

Thursday

We have a Support Group For All Ages every Thursday from 7pm until 9pm. The first hour covers a topic, which may prove to be useful for recovery, and the rest of the time is for socialising or having a chat with staff and volunteers. Families and friends are welcome to go along to get support from other people in the same situation and to learn about the illness from other sufferers at varying degrees of recovery.

Friday

On the last Friday of the month, we run a Coffee Morning from 10.30am until 12pm. This is open to anyone and is a chance to come and socialise with like minded people and find out more about First Steps Derbyshire, along with a cup of tea and a sit down!

We also run a Facebook group - please add Megan Griffiths FSD to be invited to join this private group that does not show up on your personal profile.
