Derbyshire Heritage Walks is the only organisation of any type currently offering regular guided walks with a history, heritage or transport theme throughout Derbyshire. Some of these walks concentrate on specific subjects such as the railways or cotton spinning, while others are more general and look at the history of a town, village or area. With a normal maximum group size of 6 people for any "open" tour, or 12 for a private tour, an experienced and knowledgeable guide, and a relaxed pace and atmosphere, you can be guaranteed an enjoyable and informative time.
We run scheduled "open" full-day walks every week from late February to the end of November, usually on a Saturday - although this may vary in order to fit around other local events. We also run scheduled half-day "open" walks every week throughout the year, with just a short break for Christmas and New Year, plus another short break for staff holidays. These usually take place on a weekday, normally a Tuesday, but again this may vary to fit around other events. Private walks can be booked at any time of the year, although some walks may not be practical during the winter months on safety grounds.
