Electric Vehicle Charging Points at Crich Tramway Village, Derbyshire
Visitors to Crich Tramway Village with electric cars can now take advantage of two electric vehicle charging points, supplied by electric vehicle charge point operator, Alfa Power.
The chargers, which are compatible with all electric car models, will charge a typical electric car in 3 to 6 hours; around the time it takes to experience all the attractions that Crich has to offer. The units are AC sockets, able to give a charge rate up to 22kW (subject to the type of car) and users need to bring their own type 2 cable. Anyone who isn’t currently an Alfa Power customer may wish to download the ‘My Alfa Power’ app in advance of their trip.
Commenting on the new chargers, James Brett, Facilities Manager at Crich Tramway Village said:
“We are delighted to partner Alfa Power and deliver a service for the owners of electric vehicles visiting Crich Tramway Village. We are keen to promote environmentally friendly options and it fits well with the fact that we run electric vintage trams for the enjoyment of the visiting public.”
James Fairchild at Alfa Power, said:
“As a volunteer myself within the heritage transport sector, I am pleased to be able to offer to install chargers at Crich Tramway Village. For families with smaller-battery electric vehicles in particular, the installation of this charger is the difference between going elsewhere and being able to visit Crich for a day out.
Users will find that this charger, supported by our growing network of rapid and ultra-rapid chargers along motorways and trunk roads, will be just the ticket for an enjoyable day out. It will be good for people to experience the difference between their electric cars and electric tramcars from 100 years ago.”
Crich Tramway Village, near Matlock, is open for the 2020 season from 14th March to 1st November from 10am daily. Please check the website for closing times: www.tramway.co.uk The charging stations are situated in the car park behind the admissions building. Alfa Power and Crich Tramway Village are pleased to offer free charging to visitors during the month of March but charging sessions from April onwards will be charged at Alfa Power standard rates.
