Deadline looms for community groups to apply for PCC's anti-social behaviour funding scheme.

Published on Saturday 3 September 2022

Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Angelique Foster is reminding community groups and charities not to miss out on vital extra funding to help prevent anti-social behaviour and neighbourhood crime.

The second round of the Commissioner's Anti-Social Behaviour Prevention Grant launched earlier this summer with the promise of funding worth a total of £100k for not-for-profit groups, community organisations, Town and Parish Councils, that can help tackle nuisance behaviour and increase the safety and wellbeing of residents.

More than £60k has already been allocated in this year's scheme and the Commissioner is reminding potential applicants there is another chance to apply before the deadline closes on September 30th.

"My Anti-Social Behaviour Prevention Grant is already making a difference to our communities, helping to reduce incidents and increase safety," she said.

"We know from the feedback of previous recipients that positive results can be achieved almost immediately, and I am keen for other neighbourhoods across Derbyshire to benefit from this extra funding as quickly as possible.

"Anti-social behaviour is still one of the biggest concerns in our communities. Almost three in every five residents completing my Listening to You survey said they were worried about being a victim of anti-social behaviour. This is the first grant scheme of its kind in Derbyshire to directly target anti-social behaviour and I will continue provide the support and resources necessary to help communities solve these problems.

"I would encourage any charity, parish council or community organisation that has a positive approach to preventing anti-social behaviour and increasing safety to apply for funding and help lift their plans off the ground."

Last year, 22 organisations successfully applied for funding, each receiving individual grants of up to £5,000 as part of plans to increase resources to help communities detect and deter crime, divert young people from crime and increase the safety of residents.
