Police and Crime Commissioner invites the public to share their views on crime and safety

Published on Tuesday 28 June 2022

Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Angelique Foster has launched a county-wide survey to help her strengthen the policing services local people receive.

As part of her commitment to improving frontline policing and ensuring Derbyshire Constabulary delivers a top-quality service to the public, Police and Crime Commissioner Angelique Foster is inviting residents to share their views about their community safety.

The Listening to You survey, which will run throughout the year, helps to inform the Police and Crime Commissioner's Police and Crime Plan and ensure that resources continue to be channelled to the areas that matter most to the public and deliver the best impact on safety.

The survey, which can be completed on paper or online, asks local people how safe they feel and whether they have been a victim of crime in the past 12 months.

It also questions residents on what crimes they are most worried about, listing a range of offences from anti-social behaviour and fraud to vandalism and assault.

Police and Crime Commissioner Angelique Foster said: "My role as Police and Crime Commissioner is to be the voice of the public in policing. This survey is one of the many ways I am able to gain an insight into public feeling about safety. My key priority is to keep residents safe with a commitment to build strong local policing in our communities.

"Making sure the force has the right resources in the right place to fight crime and tackle the issues that matter most to local people is vital to building public confidence and improving safety. This is an opportunity to share your views and concerns with me directly."

The Commissioner is determined to deliver a stronger frontline policing presence across the county. Her Police and Crime Plan puts law-abiding citizens and victims of crime at the heart of community safety, outlining six priorities: strong local policing, neighbourhood crime and anti-social behaviour, road safety, victim support and safeguarding, rural crime and driving efficiencies.
