Jobs Fair Aims To Help Local People Get Hired

Published on Friday 6 May 2022

A wide range of local employers with job and apprenticeship vacancies will gather at The Roundhouse in Pride Park on Thursday May 12 between 5pm and 7pm for the largest-ever ‘Get Hired’ jobs fair organised by Derby College Group (DCG).

Information about hundreds of full time, part time and apprenticeship job opportunities will be available at the event as well as advice and guidance about job search and CV writing skills.

The event is particularly aimed at young people finishing their GCSEs this summer – although vacancies are open to applicants of all ages – including those looking to change or find a career.

Several employers will be attending the event with their full, part time and apprenticeship vacancies. They include such well known names as Atkins Global, Balfour Beatty, Derby Homes, DHL Aviation, Hello Fresh, KP Snacks, National Rail, Libromoda, Pentaxia, Rolls-Royce plc, Smith Partnership Solicitors, Ted Baker, The British Army and Royal Air Force and University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.

DCG Director of Employer Partnerships, Carol Dixon, said: “The availability of a wide range of jobs has been well advertised and this year’s ‘Get Hired’ will be our biggest event so far with a wide range of full time, part time and apprenticeship vacancies available.

“There is always a large number of apprenticeship opportunities available at this time of year as employers recognise that young people in particular are at a crossroads in their lives – finishing school and college study programmes.

“Our Get Hired event is therefore the ideal opportunity for young people and indeed people of all ages to find out more about apprenticeship and other job opportunities in this area.

“Apprenticeships are a particularly good opportunity to earn while you learn – combining valuable work experience with nationally recognised qualifications.

“And businesses benefit from harnessing the energy and enthusiasm of young people, teaching them the skills they need to grow their business and ensuring that they do not face future skills gaps with an ageing workforce.

“As part of our support to businesses – we provide a recruitment service to help employers find the young people who will benefit their organisations and support candidates to ensure they have the skills they need to be successful in their search for jobs.”

Everyone planning to attend must pre-register online. For more information and to pre-register please visit https://www.derby-college.ac.uk/event/get-hired/
