Vaccination programme calls for more volunteers: "We're not finished yet"
Joined Up Careers Derbyshire is calling for more volunteers to help with the ongoing Covid-19 vaccination programme.
The public’s responded brilliantly to the Call to Arms campaign, which asked for volunteers to support the Covid-19 vaccination programme in its early stages.
The reaction from the people of Derbyshire was overwhelming, with more than 900 expressions of interest since the launch of the campaign in November, but more are still needed.
Susan Spray, programme lead for Joined Up Careers Derbyshire, said: “This is a chance for more people to take part in a crucial aspect of the country’s ongoing response to the coronavirus pandemic. We have done incredibly well, but we're not finished yet.
“We’re really looking for volunteers who fill absolutely vital roles at our vaccination sites, including administration and marshalling to help support the vaccination programme.
“The roles would suit people from different backgrounds. It may be that they are a professional seeking to return to practice; a medical/nursing or other healthcare role student seeking a new experience; or maybe a member of the public looking to help out on a short-term basis.”
To find out more and register an initial expression of interest in the roles, visit the website: https://joinedupcareers.co.uk/careers/call-arms, where there is an online form. Emailed enquiries can be sent to dchst.jucpeoplehub@nhs.net
Personal protective equipment (PPE) and training will be provided. Locations will be across Derby and Derbyshire. There are no guaranteed hours – time required will vary week-to-week depending on demand. Flexibility will be required to work various hours over seven days. Joined Up Careers may close vacancies when enough applications have been received.
Call to Arms was set up by the newly established Derbyshire Health and Care People Hub, which is part of Joined Up Careers Derbyshire (JUCD). JUCD brings together health and care organisations across the city and county to support the current and future health and social care workforce.
The People Hub is working with the lead employer (Derbyshire Community Health Services) to get individuals interviewed, trained and appointed or seconded.
The People Hub would like to thank everyone who has supported this work so far, and everyone who completed the online form to register their details to help out. As we all know, 2020 has been a hugely difficult year, but hopefully this level of response should put Derby and Derbyshire in a good place to tackle the pandemic through this winter and into spring next year.
