Sign up to receive information on fostering for Derbyshire

Published on Wednesday 7 July 2021

People in Derbyshire interested in fostering are being urged to sign up to receive 6 email bulletins giving them further information on how they could help look after a child in need.

Derbyshire County Coucil need people from all walks of life to become foster carers and provide local homes for local children.

And a new campaign offers people the opportunity to sign up to receive information in six handy emails so they can find out more about what is involved.

Councillor Julie Patten, Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Safeguarding, said:

“If you’ve been thinking about fostering then why not sign up to find out more?

“All we ask is that you have the space and can provide a much-needed home to a child for a few days, weeks, or sometimes months or years.

“You'll get a lot out of being a foster carer and we'll pay you fees and allowances. There are different types of fostering and you can decide which sort you're interested in and what best suits you.

”We pride ourselves on supporting our carers through their fostering journey so they can help our children to be the best they can be.

“We've got a great team of foster carers already, but we always need more to make sure we have homes across Derbyshire wherever we may need them.”

Derbyshire is an inclusive authority and we welcome applications from all backgrounds and communities, LGBT+, any ethnicity, race, culture or religion, single or in a relationship, married or civil partnership, any age over 21. You can be in work or not, and either rent or own your home.

Sign up for the 6 fostering email bulletins.
