Sign Up Today To Get County Council Election Result Alerts
Residents keen to find out area by area results in the forthcoming Derbyshire County Council elections in May can register now for email alerts.
Derbyshire voters will go to the polls on Thursday 6 May to elect a new county council for the first time in four years.
Polling stations across the county will be open from 7am to 10pm as 254 candidates stand across 61 divisions, contesting all 64 Derbyshire County Council seats.
The elections are run on behalf of the county council by district and borough councils, which organise polling stations as well as vote counting.
While voting is on Thursday 6 May, the counting will take place on Friday 7 May, with a count in each of the district and borough council areas.
Counting starts at 10am and results will start to be declared across the county after that, with a final declaration expected later in the afternoon of 7 May.
Residents who want to keep up with what’s happening on 7 May can sign up for regular result alerts via email by going to www.derbyshire.gov.uk/election and clicking on `sign up for election results’. They will also find other information on the dedicated election pages including a list of candidates and which parties they represent in each area.
People can also keep track of events on 7 May by following the council on Twitter or Facebook.

More than 621,800 people across Derbyshire are eligible to vote in the county council elections and people who have registered will receive their polling cards through their doors telling them where to go to vote. Registered voters who have not received a polling card will still be able to vote.
All district and borough council election officers have been working hard to put in place extra measures to ensure polling stations are safe, covid-secure places to visit and to work in on 6 May.
Residents voting in person may notice some changes to usual arrangements which will be in place to keep them and polling station staff safe and protected, including the use of screens where necessary, hand sanitising stations and in some places marshals who will help with social-distancing should queues form.
Measures in place may slightly differ from venue to venue, but all polling stations will have been fully risk-assessed to ensure they are covid-secure.
Derbyshire County Council Managing Executive Director Emma Alexander said: “If you live in Derbyshire you will use or benefit from services provided by the county council, from schools, roads, libraries and social care to waste and recycling, street lighting, country parks and register offices. That is why it is so important that people who have a vote use it and have their say in the forthcoming election.”
The deadline to register to vote in the local elections has now passed but eligible voters still have time to apply for a proxy vote. Applications must be received by 5pm on Tuesday 27 April.
