A million journeys on trentbarton's mango app
trentbarton’s mango app for smartphones has surpassed a milestone in a million – so far 1,022,762 bus journeys have been made using the mango app since its launch last summer.
The mango app has been downloaded by more than 42,000 trentbarton customers and used to pay for more than two million pounds of bus fares since its launch just seven months ago.
A third of fare paying journeys now use mango. Almost two out of every three mango users are adults, more than a fifth are young people aged 18 and under, and one in seven are students.
mango is most popular on rainbow one, indigo and the nines. Almost one in ten of every mango journey is on rainbow one. The average cost of a mango journey is just £2.11.
The scan-on, scan-off app has a daily cap on charges, plus rolling weekly and 28-day caps. Customers can download mango for free from their App or Play Store. The app shows the customer’s balance, journey history and enables them to top up instantly.
Tom Morgan, commercial director of trentbarton, said: “When we launched the mango app over last August’s Bank Holiday weekend we had high hopes that customers would quickly embrace it.
“To have now sped past the one million journey milestone during the pandemic is a huge achievement and shows that more than 40,000 customers were comfortable with switching to their smartphones for bus ticketing.
“The exciting thing is that mango has so much more potential for us to enhance what it can do for customers. Together with our customers we have pioneered a genuine world first way of paying for public transport.
“Our thanks go to our customers for taking this journey with us. And for those who are about to start travelling again for work or for play, join us by downloading mango for free and get on board. It’s going to be a great ride into the future.”
Customers who do not own a smartphone can continue to benefit from discounted travel using saver and zigzag tickets or by paying with contactless debit or credit cards. Cash is also still accepted, as are concessionary passes.
