Amber Valley Community Fund scheme continues
The continuation of a fund which provides financial support for groups and organisations in Amber Valley has been agreed by members of the borough council.
Amber Valley Borough Council’s Community Fund will be continued for the next two years and remain focussed on the 20% most deprived wards in the borough, based on the 2019 Index of Multiple Deprivation. The 13 councillors in the six relevant wards may request up to £1,000 each from the Community Fund, to be allocated to community projects.
In the financial year 2019/20 a total of 32 grants, worth a total of £9,400, were awarded by the council’s cabinet, under the scheme.
Projects included:
- £500 to St Andrew’s Church, Langley Mill for the installation of computers
- £250 to Tots and Tumbles, Langley Mill and Aldercar, for the purchase of sensory toys for babies and young children
- £1,000 to Derbyshire Autism Services to support individuals to learn to manage their autism in Ripley and Marehay
- £500 to 3rd Alfreton Scout Group for hut renovations
- £800 to Salcare towards the Freedom programme and community kitchen in Heanor
- £250 to Ironville Parish Church Hall for repairs and refurbishment
Commented Leader of Amber Valley Borough Council, Councillor Chris Emmas-Williams, "The Community Fund is an excellent way of supporting groups and projects in most need of financial help, most of whom rely on volunteers. Help has already been given to a number of excellent initiatives and we look forward to identifying and contributing to many more over the next two years."
