Sky's The Limit As Burton is Earmarked For Recruitment Firm Expansion

Published on Monday 15 February 2021

Sky Recruitment Solutions has revealed it is to open a new office in Burton upon Trent as part of its major expansion plan this year.

The company, based out of the Cubo office building in Derby, with additional offices in Ripley and Huddersfield, announced last month that it planned to open three new offices by autumn 2021.

The move follows what managing director David Torrington described as a “phenomenal” growth in turnover and staff numbers during 2020.

The exact location of the new office in Burton remains under wraps while final negotiations take place, but its new branch manager has been selected from among Sky Recruitment Solutions’ existing employees.

Beckie Elliott (24), who will initially also retain her role as business manager at the firm’s head office in Derby, has been chosen to head-up the Burton team.

With more than five years already notched up at Sky, since successfully applying for a business administration apprenticeship role in 2015, Beckie’s appointment reinforces the company’s commitment to developing careers rather than simply finding jobs for people.

Beckie, from Hilton, in South Derbyshire, said: “I’m thrilled to be given the opportunity to manage the new Burton operation.

“There’s so much potential in Burton – and probably a gap there in the recruitment market – so I’m really excited about growing our brand there and generally helping to grow the business.

“These recent months have been extremely difficult for many, so I’m more passionate than ever about helping those people find work again.”

Two further locations for Sky’s new office expansion plans will be revealed in the near future. It is expected that the firm’s 14-strong workforce will double by the end of the year.

Group managing director David Torrington said: “Beckie has shown an extraordinary talent for the recruitment business since I took her on straight from her A-levels more than five years ago.

“She was a clear choice to take responsibility for the new Burton office, and I am confident she’ll make a great success of her new, well-deserved role.”

He added: “Burton is a fabulous centre, with an impressive industrial and brewing heritage, so it seemed like an obvious location to continue our expansion.”

Sky, which specialises in providing personnel for industrial roles, announced late last year the launch of sister brand Capella Professional in Nottingham, specialising in office-based recruitment.
