Competition to appoint tearooms operator enters final stage
Amber Valley Borough Council has today launched the final stage in the competition to find an experienced commercial operator to run Belper’s new Swiss Tearooms (pictured).
The first stage of the competition was launched in January, which called for expressions of interest from anyone interested in running the new tearooms, who had experience of running a successful hot and cold food and drinks business. The final stage of the process to appoint the operator was due to begin at the end of March but had to be delayed due to the national lockdown and the resulting delay in construction of the new tearooms.
Now that the building is moving steadily towards completion, the council will be approaching everyone who registered their interest earlier in the year, so that the operator can be appointed before the building is completed.
Councillor Ben Bellamy, cabinet member for regeneration commented "With the progress being made towards completing the new Swiss Tearooms, I’m both excited and relieved that we are now in a position to conclude the competition that will see the right operator appointed to ensure the long-term success of this exciting new facility."
