Peter James Homes Launch Event Reflects High Demand For House Moves Despite Covid19

Published on Saturday 10 October 2020

Nottingham-based property developer, Peter James Homes, has hosted a successful launch event despite the pandemic- mirroring the “coiled spring” of demand for moving into a property after lockdown.

The property developer, which is headquartered in Chilwell, invited prospective house-buyers to learn more about the first phase of its £34m 148-home Woodland Heights development, in Bullbridge, near Crich.

Without a brick being laid, two plots have already been reserved following the event, held at The Hurt Arms in nearby Ambergate.

Guests were invited to view brochures, CGI images and a high tech touch screen allowing them to virtually walk through some of the properties and streets to get an insight into the 22-acre site, which has the first homes due for completion in 2021, and will consist of 2, 3, 4 and 5 bedroom houses, ranging from £190,000 to £500,000.

Simon Gardiner, managing director of Peter James Homes, said: “Our launch event was a huge success. Adhering to Covid-19 restrictions meant we had to allocate appointments for interested parties, and although every booking was filled, it gave our team more time with each person to understand their needs for a new home and answer any queries they may have.

“The feedback from those who attended was very encouraging, with two families reserving homes in the upper price bracket, even at this early stage, which we are absolutely delighted with.”

According to property listing website Rightmove, more homes in Britain are selling within a week of being put on the market than at any time over the past 10 years.

Pent-up demand for moves after lockdown and a stamp duty holiday on some homes have fuelled the property market over the summer – which is traditionally a quiet time for sales – with activity and prices both reaching new highs.

Rightmove’s analysis of more than 225,000 homes sold between July 8, when stamp duty was cut in England and Northern Ireland, and August 31, revealed a surge in deals being agreed within a week.

Simon added: “It’s clear that this development is already proving a popular site, and buyers are not being deterred by the pandemic.

“Buyers want something to look forward to, and as they are spending more time in their homes, they want something that truly fits their needs. It appears the demand has been very much akin to a coiled spring, being held back at the start of the pandemic, but being unleashed in recent months.

“If anything, people are more serious than ever about moving house.

“They are looking at houses as an investment into their lifestyle. They want a home that is close to walks, stunning scenery and nature.

“They also want a space for home working, which our properties provide.”

Kerri Bywater, new homes area partner for Bagshaws Residential, the appointed agent for the site, said: "We had really positive feedback from everybody who came, about the houses and the development in general.
"The take-up of new homes is regionalised, and depends on what's happening with employers in that area. But we have found that the market has been really positive over the past few months, nonetheless.

"I think it's more about the quality of stock that's on the market.

"The site is popular - it's a great developer, a great location that offers a really good mix of homes from two to five beds."

The plots that have been reserved, so far, are The Poppy and The Rowan.

The Poppy is a delightful three-bedroom detached home, featuring a contrasting stone facade and timeless details. Inside, there are generous living spaces, including a dual-aspect kitchen-diner, making The Poppy perfect for families.

The Rowan is an elegant four-bedroom home, boasting a luxury standard of living, with an impressive kitchen-dining living area spanning the entire ground floor.
