Event offers free help to would-be housing developers

Published on Friday 16 June 2017

Builders, developers and individuals looking to unlock housing development sites in Amber Valley will be provided with valuable help and guidance at a free event on 22 June in Alfreton.

The event, organised and run by Amber Valley Borough Council, will provide an opportunity to meet with the Housing and Communities Agency, Local and County Authorities and agencies to find out about the building opportunities and financial support available to stimulate new build in the Borough.

The event will also be an opportunity to network with other developers and help explore initiatives to get sites moving and houses built in Amber Valley. It will also highlight routes to finance for those wanting to construct a minimum of five houses.

Presentations will include:

· Home Builders Fund

· HCA Ways of Working and Investment

The event will provide information and highlight opportunities to assist with the delivery of housing within the local area and introduce potential developers to government and support agencies to discuss individual sites, including any issues which surround their development and viability.

Amber Valley Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Cllr Trevor Ainsworth, commented: “Made possible by Government funding, this is the very first event of this type, which we have organised to help kick-start new development plans in the Borough. We want local developers and land owners to attend so that they can discover what support can be accessed from the Housing and Communities Agency. The event will also encourage networking and allow those with land or vacant property looking to find developers to work with to unlock sites for new and affordable housing.

“If anyone cannot attend on the 22nd they are encouraged to get in touch with us to register their interest for further information. The Council aims to create a Developer Register allowing partners to come together and stimulate potential relationships and projects.”
