Survey results reveal high satisfaction levels among victims of crime
Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Hardyal Dhindsa today welcomed new figures which reveal high satisfaction rates among victims of crime.
The new data, which covers April 2016 to March 2017, shows eight in every 10 victims of crime in Derbyshire (80%) are satisfied with their overall policing experience.
Of those who took part in feedback surveys, 93% said they were satisfied with the way police treated them while 89% were satisfied with the ease of contact.
Overall satisfaction rates have slightly dipped during the past 12 months however the Force is taking robust action including ongoing engagement with victims and officer training to address any imbalances and ensure victims are happy with every area of service.
Commenting on the figures, Mr Dhindsa said: "I'm impressed that eight out of 10 victims of crime in Derbyshire are happy overall with their policing experience but naturally we will continue to do everything to make this figure even higher.
"Victims of crime are at the heart of everything we do and we are committed to providing a high-quality policing service. There has been a wealth of positive feedback during the past 12 months from victims of crime who've felt safer and reassured following the treatment they've received from our officers. Equally, there have been clear areas of improvement identified including keeping victims informed of case progress.
"Victims of crime can really help us deliver a better service for future victims by telling us where we need to improve. We're committed to listening to victims of crime and adapting as required to ensure expectations are not only met but exceeded at every opportunity."
ACC Chris Haward said: "While we are pleased with the high levels of satisfaction victims surveyed have indicated, Derbyshire Constabulary is not complacent and we continue to strive to do more for victims of crime, recognising our duty of care and support ensuring we put the victim at the centre of our approach."
Feedback collated by the Force through victim surveys is fed back to officers in individual cases to encourage ongoing evaluation and improvement.

On his election, a year ago this month, the Commissioner promised to prioritise the needs of victims and vulnerable people, which also is the first objective in his Police and Crime Plan.
