Chief Constable gives special briefing to Derbyshire's Police Cadets ahead of his retirement

Published on Tuesday 23 May 2017

Our Police Cadets from across the Derbyshire area had the opportunity to meet and quiz Chief Constable Mick Creedon at a special briefing in Chesterfield.

The Chesterfield, Glossop and Derby cohorts gathered at Chesterfield Police Station on Thursday, May 18 to find out all about his 37 year-long policing career ahead of his retirement at the end of this month.

It was an opportunity for the Cadets to hear about the highlights and challenges he has faced during his service, and gave insight into policing in Derbyshire and the changes facing the force in the future.

PC Laura Robins, who is the lead for the Derbyshire’s Police Cadets, said: “We’ve had some fantastic feedback from our cadets who said they found the talk honest, interesting and inspiring

“On behalf of the cadets and their leaders, we would like to thank the Chief for taking the time to share some of his experiences with us.”

Chief Constable Mick Creedon is today (Tuesday, May 23) taking on the second leg of his charity challenge- a 75 mile cycle across the north of Derbyshire.

It’s all part of his £10,000 fund-raising attempt for Safe and Sound Derby, a charity that is dedicated to helping children and young people at risk of abuse and sexual exploitation.

Every penny raised in the challenge will be donated to Safe and Sound. The charity helps vulnerable young people, with the aim of protecting them from exploitation, and strives to raise awareness of the signs to look out for in cases of grooming and sexual abuse.

You can donate and help the charity continue its essential work by visiting: www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mick-creedon.
