Developer swings into action for play area revamp

Published on Tuesday 9 May 2017

Leading developer of luxury properties, Harron Homes, has made a £2,000 contribution towards a community project aiming to restore the facilities at the recreation ground in Crich.

The developer, which is building a range of exclusive four and five-bedroom homes in the village at Devonshire Gardens, responded to a request for support from the PLACE Project. The donation will be used towards the purchase of brand new play equipment.

Paul Yorke from the PLACE Project, which is coordinating the restoration efforts, explained: “The play area comprises a number of old and rusting pieces of equipment including a climbing frame, swings, slide and seesaw. We aim to replace these with 19 modern pieces, including separate areas for younger and older children, which will provide opportunities for imaginary and exciting play.

“We are also aiming to make the recreation ground a place for all ages with outdoor gym equipment, a new path for improved access and benches to sit and relax.

“We have had great support from the local community and we sent a survey to every house in the parish seeking their views and opinions. We also visited the local schools to consult directly with the people who will use the play equipment.

“We believe new families settling in Crich, in addition to current residents, will benefit enormously from this new community asset, and we thank Harron Homes for their generous donation.”

Katie Charlesworth, Sales Director at Harron Homes, said: “As soon as we became aware of the PLACE Project, we were keen make a contribution. This is a wonderful community-led scheme which will leave a lasting legacy for future generations in the village of Crich, providing facilities that local people, including those living at Devonshire Gardens, will be able to enjoy.”

Devonshire Gardens is a collection of four and five bedroom detached homes with prices starting from £289,995. A number of homes are already available for purchase, with further releases anticipated in the near future. Prices, floor plans and specifications are available to view at www.harronhomes.com.
