PCC's new service to help victims of antisocial behaviour
Victims of antisocial behaviour in Derbyshire will from 1 April 2017 be able to gain support from a new service put in place and funded by Police and Crime Commissioner Hardyal Dhindsa.
The Commissioner set about introducing a new ASB Support Service after talking with traumatised victims whose sense of safety had been shattered.
“I feel very strongly that we need more avenues of support for victims to enable them to cope and recover and no longer live in fear or distress,” he said. “Antisocial behaviour comes in many shapes and forms, none of which is acceptable, which is why I want the service to be available to all victims of such abhorrent crimes – be they of a nuisance, personal or environmental kind.”
Adults and children will be able to seek help from the service through self-referral, whether or not they have reported what’s happening to the police.
Steve Jones of Remedi said: "Remedi are delighted to be extending our support services to all victims of anti social behaviour across Derby and Derbyshire. We are very much looking forward to working in partnership with key ASB agencies to provide both emotional and restorative support services to help those affected by ASB to cope and recover."
The service will be run by Remedi Restorative Services as an extension to Derbyshire Victim Services, working alongside other support services in the county.
