Red nose day fun at Belper opticians
DISNEY princesses, a raffle and balloon modelling galore were just some of the activities enjoyed by visitors to an opticians in Belper on Saturday 18 March, raising £230 for Comic Relief.
The team at Specsavers in Belper pulled out all the stops, starting with the three staff members greeting customers outside the store dressed as Snow White, Red Riding Hood, and the mysterious ‘Pink Princess’.
‘We wanted to go all out for Comic Relief, and the day was certainly a success,’ says store director Andy McBride. ‘We put on some fantastic activities for family fun, while raising vital funds for Comic Relief. It’s something that we all really care about, and the team and community really got behind the day, making a grand total of £230 for the charity.’
Once greeted by the Princesses, younger visitors got involved in some clever balloon modelling and enjoyed take away goodie bags containing toy bugs, pens, sweets, balloons and magazines.
Tickets were sold on the day for a raffle of the store’s life-size cut out of Kylie Minogue, and the lucky winner of the pop princess will be announced on Red Nose Day (Friday 24 March).
Customers can still get involved in the celebrations by purchasing a pair of bright red ‘Give Us a Wave’ Comic Relief specs from the store for a donation of £2. The store is encouraging customers to take selfies using #GiveUsAWave to raise awareness on social media.
Specsavers stores across the UK are working hard to raise money for Comic Relief, so that they can continue their work with helping the poor and vulnerable in the UK and Africa. As a proud partner of Red Nose Day, Specsavers have pledged to raise £250,000 across their stores in the UK and Ireland.
