Student of West End & Broadway Star steps out on local stage!
Always the orphan, 13 year old Madison Naylor from South Normanton will be following in the footsteps of her mentor, Michael Xavier (Sunset Boulevard, Show Boat, The Secret Garden) when she steps out onto the Mansfield Palace Theatre stage this week in the title role in Mansfield Operatic and Dramatic Society’s production of "ANNIE".
Madison's first time on stage was as an orphan to Rosie Bentham’s “Annie” with Nottingham Operatic Society in October 2014, she played an orphan again in OLIVER! in March 2015 with Mansfield Operatic and Dramatic Society.
In July 2015 she successfully auditioned for Michael Xavier for a place at his part-time elite musical theatre training school, West End Masterclass in London, where she trains alongside child stars: Emily Carey (Young Diana in Wonder Woman), Sebastian “Bash” Croft (Young Eddard Stark in Game of Thrones), Isabella Pappas (Sadie in Paranoid, Annie in Annie, the UK tour), Asha Banks (Violet Beauregard in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and many other students who have starred in West End shows. Madison is one of the very few to gain a place with Michael who has never performed on stage professionally!
In March 2016 she went to see "Annie, the UK tour" in Nottingham and having trained alongside one of the “Annie’s” decided to audition for Mansfield Operatic and Dramatic Society's 2017 show.
She was overjoyed to be chosen as one of the "Annie's" along with Ella Wragg.
Madison returns to her West End training with Michael in April (when he's back from the Broadway run of Sunset Boulevard opposite Glenn Close) and hopes to perform at this years West End Live in Trafalgar Square and Xmas Concert in Covent Garden.
Annie Performances are nightly from 7.15pm on March 7th - 11th and 2.30pm matinee performances on March 11th & 12th. Tickets cost £12. Call the box office on 01623 633133.
