Wood Matters at Heage Windmill
By popular request we are delighted to be welcoming back to Heage Windmill on Sunday June 2nd, Gordon and Janet Fisher , from nearby Sutton in Ashfield. All day they will be demonstrating, and teaching, all our visitors, something of their skills in working with wooden products. Gordon, a master on a lathe, will be woodturning , on one of the two machines they will be bringing with them. They will be accompanied by their close friends John and Pat Taylor from South Normanton, John will assist in the wood turning whilst Pat will be either be burning intricate patterns onto wooden products (pyrography) or painting on the wood itself. There will be suitable displays of their previous work. All of the group by the way are committed amateurs who just enjoy their hobby!
But the great news is that is also a ‘hands on’ day when any one over 16 years of age can ‘have a go’, whilst the younger ones watch on! So why not come along and savour in a new skill – it might be just the hobby for you! Oh, and the windmill will be open from 11-00am until 4-00pm for guided tours as well!

The windmill will be open during 2013 (11-00 to 4-00 pm) every weekend from April to the end of October, as well as at all bank holidays .
