Marehay Vauxhall Supports Another of the Village's Oldest Institutions
Marehay Vauxhall has just agreed a two-year sponsorship deal with Marehay Cricket Club, offering essential financial support that will allow the club to continue to grow and flourish. The garage, whose history dates back to 1931, is actually twenty-five years younger than the cricket club, which was founded in 1906 and resided for most of its life behind the Holly Bush public house.
When the land was sold on 1996 for the Poppyfields housing development, the future of the Cricket Club looked to be in jeopardy, but the members worked hard to secure funding grants, and they now have one of the best grounds in the country, ‘The Maryfield’, with excellent, modern facilities.
Ian Beardsley, Marehay Vauxhall’s General Manager, says “We’re delighted to be able to support Marehay Cricket Club. It’s important to us to be involved in the local community, and Marehay Cricket Club is a fantastic institution. They’re very similar to us in many ways – they’ve been a big part of Marehay’s community for so many years, and have seen many changes throughout their lifetime. Despite everything they have weathered the storms and moved with the times, and we’re thrilled to be a part of the club’s future.”
Both the Cricket Club and the garage are high flyers in their own specialist areas. Marehay Cricket Club have been awarded the England and Wales Cricket Board ‘Clubmark’ Accreditation which recognises them as a high quality cricket club, and Marehay Vauxhall have recently won Vauxhall’s ‘Customer Excellence Award’ for the second year running – an achievement that the dealership is, rightfully, very proud of. The annual award from the British manufacturer recognises and rewards top performing retailers for the quality of service they give to their customers. The Vauxhall award is only in its second year, and Marehay Vauxhall are only one of only two dealerships nationally who have been winners in both years.
The sponsorship deal will offer financial support for Marehay Cricket Club, and projects planned for the forthcoming season include working with the Derbyshire Cricket Board on a coaching programme for junior players, and also investing in new grounds maintenance equipment to further improve their facilities.
Marehay Vauxhall, like the Cricket Club, is constantly striving to improve and move with the times. The latest addition to Vauxhall’s range, the Adam, is something very different for Vauxhall but offers customers an unprecedented level of personalisation, allowing them to create the perfect car for their tastes and needs. “The Adam is something truly innovative from Vauxhall” says Ian, “and it’s already proving very popular with our customers – I’d really recommend coming along for a test drive, you’ll be astounded! And, of course, when you buy from Marehay Vauxhall you can expect a level of service and support that’s second to none.” As well as selling quality new and used Vauxhall’s, the garage also service and MOT all makes and models of vehicles, and all with their nationally renowned levels of customer service.
