Sign up for County Council election results service

Published on Tuesday 30 April 2013

Derbyshire County Council would like to reminind residents that they can sign up for a free election results service as voters go to the polls on Thursday (May 2).

Residents will be able to get results as they come in by signing up for regular email alerts and find out which candidate wants to represent them at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/results or follow events on Twitter @derbyshirecc or Facebook www.facebook.com/derbyshirecc (opens in a new window)

The county council's website will also be regularly updated for people to log on to check the latest results at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/results

There are 590,000 eligible voters in Derbyshire who have the chance to choose from 266 candidates representing 10 political parties contesting 64 seats.

Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm as voters have their say on how more than £1bn is spent each year on important services for more than 760,000 residents.

Derbyshire County Council Chief Executive Nick Hodgson said:

"Our results service was really popular during the last election and we've improved it to make it clearer and even easier to use.

"During the last election people told us that they'd like to get information on their tablets and smart phones so we've made sure it will be accessible across mobile devices this time and also added the email alerts service.

"Residents will also be able to find information about their own specific ward more easily and all results will be constantly updated until the last one is in."

By now eligible voters should have received a polling card telling them where their nearest polling station is. But voters who have mislaid their card or have not received it can ask their district or borough council for the address of their polling station.

There is no need to produce a polling card to vote.

Votes will be counted on Friday 3 May from 10am onwards.
