New Inspector in charge of policing in the Amber Valley
A new Inspector has taken over the lead on policing in the Amber Valley area.
Insp. Graham Lamin took over the reins from Richard Smith in March, and is responsible for policing the towns of Alfreton, Belper, Heanor and Ripley, along with the surrounding villages in the borough.
He returns to the area with 25 years experience as a police officer, having been an Inspector in Belper for 18 months until July 2008.
During his career Insp. Lamin, has worked on response and neighbourhood teams, on task force, in licensing and in operations planning.
His most recent role was as a Section Inspector, with responsibility for policing in the Bolsover District where he has been for the past three years.
In 2012 Insp. Lamin was one of the Derbyshire officers invited to a special reception with Prime Minister David Cameron to recognise the role he played in leading a team who travelled to London to help during disorder in August 2011.
Insp. Lamin said: “I’m really pleased to be returning to the Amber Valley area as Section Inspector, and hope to be able to build on the good work that Insp. Smith and to continue to work alongside partnership agencies with the aim of keeping the Amber Valley safe.
“I also hope to further improve confidence in local policing, and to work with the community to address the concerns of local residents.”
