Amber Valley CVS Befriending Service gains Approved Provider Standard Accreditation

Published on Wednesday 10 April 2013

Amber Valley CVS have been awarded the Approved Provider Standard (APS) for their Befriending and Home from Hospital Schemes.

Amber Valley CVS are the first organisation within the newly formed Derbyshire Trusted Befriending Network to gain the APS status under the new assessment structure.

The Approved Provider Standard is a national benchmark for organisations running mentoring and befriending projects. Projects achieving the APS will be operating to a nationally approved standard that gives Government ministers, project organisers, and many thousands of volunteers, a reliable benchmark of safe and effective practice.

Amber Valley CVS’ Befriending service aims to provide companionship and support for residents of Amber Valley who are socially isolated through a team of trained volunteer befrienders.

Amber Valley CVS also operate the Home from Hospital service, a short term service for people aged 50 and over, to ensure they are safe and confident when returning home from hospital.

‘This is a great testament not only to our work supporting the most isolated people within Amber Valley, but also to the excellent team of trained Volunteer Befrienders which enable us to provide this excellent quality service’
Comment from Nathan Hutchinson - Amber Valley CVS Marketing and Communications Development Worker
