PCSO heads back to class for Safer Internet Day
A Safer Neighbourhood officer has gone back to class as part of Safer Internet Day.
PCSO Meikel Miller, of the Somercotes and Riddings Safer Neighbourhood Team, paid a visit to youngsters at Ironville and Codnor Park Primary School to chat with them about how they can take steps to enjoy using the internet safely.
The visit took place on Tuesday, February 7 as part of Safer Internet Day, which saw schools, young people, and police forces across the UK team up to inspire people to ‘Be the Change’ and unite for a better internet.
Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally in February each year to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.
During the visit, the children and staff at the school learnt all about the steps that they can take to stay safe online. Parents and carers were then invited to the school for a special assembly to find out all about what the children had learnt earlier that day.
To speak to the Somercotes and Riddings Safer Neighbourhood Team call 101, the non-emergency number for Derbyshire police.
