DLRAA Receives Donation From Oakfield Farm From The Open Farm Sunday Event 2016

Published on Saturday 2 July 2016

On Monday 27nd June, Andrew & Karen Wint, Chloe Morton & Manda Wain with Holly from Oakfield Farm donated £9120.24 to Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA)

Andrew & Karen Wint, Chloe Morton & Manda Wain with Holly presented Richard Fletcher & Julie Fletcher Derbyshire Community Representatives for DLRAA, with the cheque at Oakfield Farm. The donation was made from an event on Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th June, the very quiet village of Stanley Common become a bustling hive of activity as people flocked to join Andrew & Karen Wint from Oakfield Farm as they once again hosted a range of events and stalls as part of the Open Farm Sunday initiative. The days offered many attractions, activities and culinary delights including the licenced bar from Nutbrook Brewery, Hog Roast & Pizza Oven, cake & craft stalls, sheep shearing, bouncy castle, pony rides, face painting, Birds of Prey, farm tours and live rock bands which were, Pea Shooter, Mr Wolf, Pigeon Pie, Think Lizzy & many more; there was something for just about everyone who visited the farm.

For the second year Chloe Morton aged 15 was one of the many youngsters that raised money for us; it is inspiring to see such commitment and pride from Chloe, and with her sister Lilly aged 11 they raised £432.50 from selling sweets at school, family and friends. Also they volunteered their time to help over the weekend.

Richard said: “I was delighted to be presented with the cheque from Andrew & Karen Wint, Chloe Morton & Manda Wain with Holly, it will help us save 5 lives, and DLRAA relies entirely on donations from members of the public as it receives no Government or National Lottery funding. Therefore support from people such as Andrew & Karen Wint, Chloe Morton & Manda Wain with Holly from Oakfield Farm and everyone who supported this event really is invaluable and it goes a long way to helping to keep our lifesaving service flying and saving lives.”

Richard also said: I would like to personally thank everyone for their fantastic support to make this event truly amazing. This year we had the weather on our side and it really made the difference, we also had some very special guests to help with the weekend and I would also like to thank them. Karl Bexon our Critical Care Paramedic brought the new Night Car, Captain Jack Sparrow & Angelica from Truman Entertainments, also all the volunteers who made this event so special. Last but no means least John McCallion our Pilot who did the fly over with the crew of HeliMed 54 on the Saturday Evening which helped really boost the donations and lift the whole weekend.

We have been invited back for next year’s event which will be held on Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th June 2017. Please come and join us in what should be another fantastic weekend of activities for all the family and help raise money for an amazing lifesaving service.

When you’re fighting for your life, every second counts. For us, this makes every mission critical. DLRAA was formed in 2008, every day of the year your local air ambulance is helping save lives. Our critical care paramedics, trauma doctors and pilots fly an average of six rescue missions a day – from medical emergencies, to road traffic collisions, to sports injuries, to industrial accidents. Our rapid response gives people the very best chance of survival and recovery. But we couldn’t do this without people like you. We rely entirely on donations to raise the £1,700 we need to fund each rescue mission.
