Kilburn residents encouraged to sign up to brand new Neighbourhood Watch group
Residents in Kilburn are being encouraged to sign up to a brand new Neighbourhood Watch group in their local area.
The scheme sees local residents work alongside police in a bid to tackle community issues including dog fouling and anti-social behaviour (ASB).
More than 500 properties in the area will be covered by the scheme including on Meadow Court, Field Court, Chapel Street, Windmill Avenue, Dale Park Avenue, Elm Tree Avenue, Woodhouse Road and Rykneld Road.
Chesterfield and District Neighbourhood Watch Project Officer, Joye Dobbs said: “Neighbourhood Watch is one of the best examples of how the police and community can work together to prevent crime. Activities include giving crime prevention advice, circulating newsletters and encouraging members to report suspicious activity and hold regular scheme meetings.
“A local resident contacted me in a bid to set up the group in Kilburn and I was delighted to hear from them. We have worked alongside PCSO John Midgley from the village’s Safer Neighbourhood team to support each other in setting up the scheme.
“We will now be contacting members of the local community via letters and surveys to encourage them to sign up to the scheme and get registered. We hope to find a suitable local venue and get the launch event arranged in the not too distant future.”
