The Belper Pirates Set Sail for Belper following Lockdown Hiatus
The popular ‘Belper Pirates’ are returning to the Ritz Cinema, Belper for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic. A regular feature as part of the annual Belper Arts Trail for the last eight years, Captain Dan and the crew will be appearing in a brand-new half hour show for children and families this May Bank Holiday Weekend. Written exclusively for Belper Arts Trail by Lea Holmes ‘The Curse of The New Girl’ sees the pirates on the lookout for a new first mate and is a mixture of slapstick comedy and traditional pantomime.
When asked, ‘Captain’ Dan Webber said, “it’s so great to be back on stage as part of Belper Arts Trail and we cannot wait to show audiences what the Belper Pirates have been up to, after 2 years away I’m not sure which is more tired, the actors or the jokes!”
The full cast includes Andrew Buxton, Lea Holmes, Annabel Ward and Dan Webber, with stage management by Chris Moss. Tickets for the show are £5 and available via Eventbrite or on the door.
Performances take place at The Ritz Cinema, Belper at 10.45am and 12pm on Sunday 1st and 10.45am and 11.45am on Monday 2nd May.
This Year’s Belper Arts Trail takes place between 10.30am and 4.30pm across May Bank Holiday Weekend at various venues across the town centre. Including music and variety entertainment, and over 125 artists and makers displaying and selling artwork and handmade crafts.
