Police in Ripley continue to tackle anti-social behaviour

Published on Saturday 28 March 2015

Police in Ripley are continuing work to tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the town centre and the Greenway, after residents raised concerns at a recent Community Panel Meeting.

Officers from the Ripley Safer Neighbourhood Team are vowing to carry our increased patrols in the areas and speak to those responsible to ensure they understand the consequences of their actions.

The team, including PC Simon Gilding, PC Richard Marshall, PCSO Sarah Dufton and PCSO Neil Wilson, will also be visiting local schools to educate pupils about ASB and the affect it may have on other people.

They will also be working with partner agencies to set up activities for youngsters in the area in a bid to combat the issue.

Individuals who are found to be acting in an anti-social manner will be given words of advice, warning letters will be issued where appropriate and Acceptable Behaviour Contracts if necessary.

This priority was extended following a Community Panel Meeting on Wednesday, March 25 where residents voiced concerns about ASB.

PC Marshall said: “I thank the members of the public who have taken the time out in their evening to tell us about what’s important to them. Our continued priority for the next three months will be working with local young people and tacking any anti-social behaviour in the town, it will not be tolerated.”
