Tractors at Heage Windmill
A large collection of multi coloured tractors and steam engines of all types, in fact 46 in all ,assembled at Heage windmill (Sunday 26-9-21) on a beautiful warm and sunny day.
To make the day even better from time to time the wind speed was enough to gently turn the windmill sails. Despite their pristine condition many of machines on display were over sixty years old.
A lot of happy children achieved their dream by being allowed to sit on a tractor seat and to ‘work’ the steering wheel! The day could not have been better and the 'butty' stall and bric a brac stall were very popular. Many families did find time to leave the tractors and to go on a guided tour of windmill; learning how flour was made over 200 years ago and they were then able to purchase recently milled flour.
John Allsop, who organises the tractors arrival at the site said ‘We all love coming to the windmill – its always a great event’.
All profits from a memorable day will go to the mill maintenance funds.
