Men take up singing in 2015 - Somercotes Choral Society needs you!
Somercotes Choral Society, which performs two major concerts a year, needs men to join its male chorus.
The Society, which was formed in 1951, currently has around 50 members, a large number of whom are women.
Chairman Andy Hoskison says that recently the choir has lost a few of the male singers and is keen to recruit some new men.
“As you find in many mixed choirs and musical theatre groups the members are predominately women. We just need a few more men to boost our numbers. If any man fancies having a go at singing in 2015 then please contact me.”
Andy can be reached on 01623 479921.
Rehearsals are held each Tuesday evening from 7.15pm at Somercotes Sports College.
The next concert – Music from the Big Screen - is on Saturday 25th April at Alfreton Grange Arts College. The varied programme includes songs from such movies at Mamma Mia, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Phantom of the Opera, Mary Poppins and James Bond themes.
Andy adds: “We welcome first time singers as we have CDs to help everyone learn their individual parts. There is plenty of time to rehearse for the April Concert.”
The society’s Musical Director is Neil Farley of Belper and the accompanist is John Hobbs of Risley.
