Why not join us at Heage Windmill for a picnic?

Published on Monday 24 May 2021

The Heage Windmill site reopens to the public on Sunday 30th & Monday 31st May. We are unable to offer our popular tours of the inside of the windmill but invite you to enjoy a picnic on our site whilst the sails are turning (wind conditions permitting) and enjoy the superb view towards the Derwent Valley.

These events are free but must be pre-booked. You can reserve a picnic table (seating up to 4) for an hour starting at 11am, 12.30pm or 2pm whichever suits you best. Please bring your own refreshments as, unfortunately, we will be unable to provide any onsite. An optional free 15-minute talk by one of our friendly and knowledgeable guides will be available, our wonderful stoneground flour will be on sale and, if dry, a Bric-a-Brac stall will invite your perusal. Donations for the windmill’s upkeep (we get no direct funding) will be gratefully received on the day.

Heage Windmill has been approved by the Visit England ‘We’re Good To Go’ scheme providing you with the surety that Covid-19 safety measures are in place. Areas will be thoroughly cleaned prior to the new groups’ arrival.

To book a picnic table simply call Lynn on 07973 548551 or 01773 715177. We will require your name and contact details. Further picnic events should be available each Sunday throughout June. Details about further events will be announced in due course.

We look forward to welcoming you to Heage Windmill – a unique piece of history in a beautiful setting.
