Off-road bike seized in Codnor Park after rider found without insurance
Police in Codnor Park have seized an off-road motorbike for being ridden without insurance.
The rider, a 19-year-old man, was stopped by officers on patrol on Monument Lane, at around 4pm on Tuesday, August 19.
The bike was seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act.
PCSO Richard Plant, of Somercotes and Riddings Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This should act as a reminder to anyone who uses or wants to ride an off-road bike that they must be insured before they can be used on the road.”
Off-road riding or driving cannot take place on any land, including moorland, forest, country park, waste ground or derelict railway for example, unless the rider or driver has express permission of the landowner.
To ride on a public road or highway, the vehicle and rider or driver must be insured, have tax and a current MOT.
