Businesses in Amber Valley to receive online boost

Published on Thursday 19 November 2020

Amber Valley businesses are to be given a free subscription to ShopAppy.com, a platform that allows businesses to establish an online presence, giving another avenue to connect with customers, share their story and expand their audience and customer-base.

The offer to businesses is being made by Amber Valley Borough Council, in partnership with Derbyshire County Council.

ShopAppy is all about keeping it local and promotes towns and their local businesses by providing a one-stop, online town profile which enables customers to see what the local shops and services have to offer, and make a purchase, all in one place.  It aims to showcase the diversity of shops on our high streets and promote their opening hours to encourage customers to shop safely and continue to support local retailers.

The initiative is aimed at the four market towns in Amber Valley, but traders that are not based within a town can affiliate with their nearest town or join up with other local businesses.

The borough council is working with town councils, community interest groups and local businesses in Amber Valley to encourage sign-up to the scheme with a view to launching the ShopAppy website for the public to use in each town in the run-up to Christmas.

Commented Amber Valley Borough Council’s portfolio holder for regeneration and community safety, Councillor Ben Bellamy, "We really hope that ShopAppy will offer another valuable way of connecting with customers for Amber Valley businesses in these challenging times. It is an exciting initiative which we are delighted to be playing a part in."

ShopAppy.com, which has already launched in 150 towns in the UK, was created 4 years ago to provide an alternative way for places and small businesses to compete with online retail giants, allowing customers to book events and experiences as well as browse and buy local products online.
