Police and Crime Commissioner's Belper visit
Derbyshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Hardyal Dhindsa, visited Amber Valley recently to discuss crime and anti-social behaviour and to see new CCTV cameras in action.
Welcoming him were Amber Valley Borough Council’s Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Community Safety, Councillor Ben Bellamy, and his Portfolio Deputy, Councillor Fay Atkinson.
Discussions were held with Mr Dhindsa, and members of the Belper Safer Neighbourhood Team, about the additional CCTV camera recently installed in the borough and how the Covid pandemic has affected crime and anti-social behaviour.
Commented Councillor Bellamy, "I was delighted to be able to show Hardyal one of the new cameras that we have installed around the borough. The police officers from the Safer Neighbourhood Team welcomed the cameras and explained how they had already been capturing incidents in high definition. The cameras are also monitored 24/7 to add an extra degree of safety.
"I'm extremely proud of our Safer Neighbourhood police. They explained how between two PC's and two PCSO's they cover 100 square miles of Belper. I wish there were more of them, but the SNTs we have across in the borough are making a real difference in our communities."
