Derbyshire Students Set To Receive Their A-Level And GCSE Results

Published on Friday 7 August 2020

Thousands of students across the county are preparing to receive their A-level and GCSE results.

On Thursday 13 August, students who were due to sit A-levels this summer will receive a calculated grade due to the closure of schools and cancelled exams.

Those who were due to sit GCSE exams will receive them a week later on Thursday 20 August.

Derbyshire County Council Cabinet Member for Young People Councillor Alex Dale said: “I’d like to wish all our students who will soon receive their A-level or GCSE results the very best of luck.

“I’d also like to thank them, their families and all our school staff for the work they put in during their school careers. I’d like to wish them all the best for the future.”

The process for deciding a student’s grade was set by Ofqual, the Government’s body for regulating exams.

For each student, schools and colleges have provided a ‘centre assessment grade’ for each subject – the grade they would be most likely to have achieved had exams gone ahead – taking into account a range of evidence including, for example, non-exam assessment and mock exam results.

Councillor Dale added: “There’s plenty of advice and support on offer for all students from their school or college as they consider their next steps.”

Other support and guidance services for young people include:

•    National Careers Service: nationalcareers.service.gov.uk or call 0800 100 900
•    UCAS: www.ucas.com
•    National Apprenticeships Service: www.apprenticeships.gov.uk
•    Derbyshire County Council’s Adult Community Education Service Derbyshire.gov.uk/adulteducation

Students unhappy with their results can, if they wish, sit exams in the autumn and should check with their school or college for more information.

Unlike previous years, the county council will not be receiving individual grades from schools this year.
