Exemplar Health Care Launches Ripley Apprenticeship Scheme

Published on Wednesday 17 June 2020

One of the UK’s leading social care providers, Exemplar Health Care, is piloting an apprenticeship scheme in Ripley this Autumn – to provide new opportunities for people to start a career in adult care.

The pilot for the Adult Care Worker Level 2 apprenticeship will take place at its Yarningdale home in Ripley and will start in Autumn 2020. Exemplar Health Care is looking for five apprentices to join the scheme – with applications of interest in the programme to be submitted from July.

The 13-month programme offers people who want to start their career in care, the opportunity to learn on the job and gain nationally recognised qualifications. It’s ideal for students leaving higher education or people who are looking for a career change. The care home currently offers a range of apprenticeships to existing colleagues, but this is the first time that they’ll be opening them up to new recruits.

Speaking about the apprenticeship programme, Lauren Brooke, Learning and Development Lead said: “We’re looking for caring and dedicated people who want to make a difference to people’s lives and have the right values to work in social care. The apprenticeship is ideal for people who want to start their career in social care, but don’t have any experience or qualifications, such as those leaving education or changing careers. We will also be paying our apprentices the same amount as our Support Workers which is £8.72 per hour.

“The Adult Care Worker Level 2 apprenticeship teaches you the knowledge, skills and understanding that you need to be an Adult Care Worker, including your responsibilities, how to treat people with dignity, communication skills, adult safeguarding and promoting health and wellbeing.

“At the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll become a fully qualified Support Worker and have the opportunity to do further training, for example the Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker apprenticeship, and progress in your career, if you wish.”

If you’re interested in finding out more about the apprenticeship scheme, Exemplar Health Care is holding a free webinar on 30 June 2020 at 10.00am to introduce the programme and to answer any questions.
