Business PPE Campaign Hits Major Milestone! #ppe4nhs
A campaign which calls on businesses to donate personal protective equipment (PPE) to support NHS and key service workers dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, has now received over 100,000 items of PPE.
Spearheaded by Martin Rigley, Manging Director at Lindhurst Engineering in Sutton in Ashfield, the #ppe4nhs campaign has substantially exceeded its expectations. Originally running in the Ashfield & Mansfield areas, the campaign then expanded into the whole of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire. As Martin says:
“Just eight weeks ago, when we started the #ppe4nhs campaign in Mansfield & Ashfield, we never imagined how big it would grow and the great success that it would become. We’re absolutely delighted to have secured donations totalling over 100,000 individual items, which have now been distributed to key workers in the NHS and in the community. It’s an astonishing achievement! Most importantly though, as a result of our campaign, there are front line workers who now have access to the PPE that they need!”
Campaign Co-ordinator Malcolm Healey said:
“We’re thrilled to reach this incredible milestone. We couldn’t have achieved this without the fantastic work of our small team of volunteers; the terrific support of companies hosting our drop off centres, along with the Fire & Rescue Services in Notts and Leicestershire & Rutland, and, particularly, the overwhelming generosity of businesses across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire. Our sincere thanks go to everyone who has supported our campaign.”
The #ppe4nhs campaign is still seeking donations of PPE. Specifically, the following items:
- Fluid resistant masks including, although not exclusively, FFP2 or FFP3 rated (the rating is marked on each mask).
- Coveralls / medical gowns / disposable aprons
- Nitrile gloves
- Sanitising gel
To make a donation, please e-mail ppe4nhs@hotmail.com to arrange a drop off time.
