New Therapist joins the team at Orchard Well-being Complimentary Therapy Practice near Ripley.

Published on Sunday 13 April 2014

I have never been to The Orchard Premises before, so I have to say that I was very impressed as we pulled down the driveway. There is ample parking and when you step inside the premises themselves you enter a light, bright, airy space that manages to be very professional but calming and inviting all at once.

Kerry Wilkes has only recently joined the Orchard Team and is keen to promote the positive benefits of Reflexology. I have only had this treatment on one previous occasion (a few years ago) and have to say that I found it to be extremely beneficial. For those of you who are reluctant to disrobe you will be very pleased to hear that this non-invasive treatment allows you to remain fully clothed at all times -  with the exception of your socks. Also, if you have an intense dislike of having your feet touched or aren’t comfortable baring them, you can have a full reflexology session performed on your hands. Brilliant!

Reflexology is based on the theory that different points on the feet and hands (to name the main parts used) correspond to different areas of the body, and that working on these points aids relaxation and helps improve wellbeing.

The treatment room is a calming little haven, decorated in a tranquil palette of neutral colours, with calming oils scenting the air. I could feel myself chilling out already.

So, after a thorough confidential consultation Kerry invited me to lie down on her treatment couch, and then adjusted the pillows behind my knees and neck to ensure I was comfortable before placing a lovely fluffy throw over me.

The treatment began with a foot cleanse and some gentle, suppling, warm –up movements, and even at this early stage I could feel my mind begin to wander and  my body leave the daily cares behind it. Kerry worked steadily over each foot, and before I knew it was gently bringing me back to the here-and-now with some deep breathing techniques. Then I sat up and was given a glass of water to drink, which helps to further ground you.

To finish the session, Kerry went through any pertinent issues and also gave me a comprehensive aftercare leaflet explaining how to gain maximum benefit from my session. Kerry is one of those people who has a very welcoming, nurturing feel to them and she managed to instantly put me at ease. As well as these personal qualities, she is also superb in how she carries out the Reflexology treatments. I slept like a proverbial baby that night, and woke up refreshed and revitalised

In addition to Reflexology, Kerry will also be available for Aromatherapy Massage, Facials, Head and Scalp Massage and Swedish massage. So don’t delay in booking your treatment, I have a feeling this young lady will soon be booked up well in advance as word of her skills and professionalism spreads.

If you are interested in a free taster treatment from Kerry or any of her colleagues at Orchard Well-being then pay them a visit on their open day taking place during May read more
