Grant applications open for small businesses
Around 2,400 small businesses in Amber Valley are now being invited to apply online for a grant to support them during the disruption caused by COVID-19.
The grant scheme, which Amber Valley Borough Council is administering, has been devised by The Department for Business Energy & Industrial Strategy (Central Government Department.) There are two grants available - Small Business Grant Fund and Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant.
You should apply for this grant if you run a small business within Amber Valley, and it meets one of the following criteria:
Small Business Grant Funding: £10,000 grant to properties with a rateable value of up to £15,000 that are in receipt of Small Business Rate Relief or Rural Rate Relief.
Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Funding: £10,000 grant to eligible properties with a rateable value up to £15,000, or a £25,000 grant to eligible properties that have a rateable value of over £15,000 and less than £51,000.
As this is a Central Government scheme Amber Valley Borough Council has no discretion to amend it in any way.
More details about the grants, along with links to frequently asked questions, and online application forms can be found at www.ambervalley.gov.uk/business/claim-the-government-business-grant.
The application process is online only.
Commented Leader of Amber Valley Borough Council Councillor Chris Emmas-Williams: "We are very pleased that we are now in a position to start processing applications for these grants. Our team will be working hard to ensure that applications are dealt with as quickly as possible and that a critical contributor to our local economy receives the help it needs during these desperate times".
