Countryside Sites Open For All - Car Parking Charges Suspended
Car parking charges at Derbyshire County Council’s country parks and countryside sites are to be suspended from today (Saturday 21 March) in light of the coronavirus outbreak.
The county council recognises the importance of continuing to provide places for people to keep active, relax and boost their physical and mental wellbeing by spending time in the fresh air and open spaces surrounded by nature.
To help contain the outbreak, shops and visitor centres at the sites will close.
And the county council’s café franchisees will only be operating a take-away service from the café entrance at Black Rocks, Elvaston Castle Country Park, and Ramblers Cafe and Derby Lodge at Shipley Country Park.
Hire of all-terrain mobility scooters or ‘trampers’ is also suspended until further notice along with cycle hire at Middleton Top.
All visitors are being urged to continue to follow Government advice about social distancing to help keep everyone safe.
The county council is continuing to review the situation to ensure it follow the most up-to-date guidance and is taking all necessary measures to protect staff, volunteers and visitors.
It is also working closely with NHS colleagues and other local authorities to ensure that the people of Derbyshire are kept well informed. For more information visit www.derbyshire.gov.uk/coronavirus
