Community Fund launched to assist deprived areas in Amber Valley
Councillors representing the six most deprived wards in Amber Valley are to be given the opportunity to improve the quality of life for local residents through a new Community Fund which was launched by the borough council at its full council meeting on 24 July.
The Community Fund of £13,000 has been made available and requests can be made for use of it in those 6 wards which are classed as being in the 20% most deprived, based on the 2015 Index of Multiple Deprivation. The fund will enable the targeting of resources in these wards by elected members, to support local projects which aim to reduce the level of deprivation.
The 6 wards have a total of 13 elected members representing them. Any elected member may request up to a maximum of £1,000 per year from the Community Fund.
Commented Leader of the Council, Councillor Chris Emmas-Williams: “We are committed to doing whatever we can, within the limited budgets we have, to improve the quality of life for residents throughout the borough, but particularly in those areas identified as the most deprived. We are now looking forward to receiving grant applications.”
