Italian Cars at Heage Windmill
by Amber Valley Info on Tuesday 16 July 2019Italian cars at Heage windmill happened to coincide with a few other minor attractions, like Cricket World Cup, (Sunday July 14th) but it did not deter either drivers or visitors from coming to this iconic site.
From about 10am a steady stream of often brightly coloured Italian cars arrived at the windmill and were set out in display format. They included Fiats, Alfa Romeos, Abarths Ferrari, Lancia and in all some 45 cars arrived and soon were being admired (or envied perhaps?) by people of all ages. Many photos were taken against the back drop of the Grade 2* windmill. Awards were made for the best of the Italian cars and also the best ‘Abarth’ model by Attila Csorba, from the ‘Cars and Coffee’ car club.
A good selection of car enthusiasts then continued and took guided tours of the mill and found out how the 220-year-old machine still produces flour by wind power alone. Many a bargain was bought on our bric a brac stall and a tombola added to the occasion.
The windmill will be open during 2019 (11-00am to 4-00pm) every weekend from
April 6th until the end of October. Large, free, car park!
