Job skills event hailed a success
A skills development event at Heanor Town Hall has been hailed a success and could now be repeated at other venues in Amber Valley.
Amber Valley Borough Council hosted the afternoon event for people looking to develop the kind of skills that will help them become work-ready.
The event included exhibitors including Derventio Housing who co-ordinate the ‘Towards Work’ programme, Chris Calladine from ‘Be Your Own Boss’, Wheels to Work, Jobcentre Plus and Disability Services from Derbyshire County Council. The ages of those attending ranged from 17 to over 50.
Commented Amber Valley Borough Council portfolio holder for Regeneration and Community Safety, Cllr Ben Bellamy: “This is the first time Amber Valley Borough Council have facilitated an event like this in Heanor, and the range of attendees was a clear indication of its success and people’s keen interest to engage with these opportunities.”
If you were not able to attend but would like further information about the support you could access, then please email us on regeneration@ambervalley.gov.uk or call 01773 841426.
