A Busy weekend at Heage
On Saturday 29 June at 3pm the Derventio Choir, from Derby, will be singing at Heage Windmill. Derventio is a mixed choir of around 30 singers and they will be singing a wide variety of songs ranging from folk tunes to big show songs.
This event will be part of their summer season of concerts. If you are on site earlier in the day there would be the opportunity to have a tour of the Mill or bring a picnic. Unfortunately, there won’t be tours after the choir event as the last tour is at 3.30pm. While there are some picnic benches you may choose to bring some folding chairs. Then after lunch you are welcome to listen to the choir. While there is a charge for the Mill tours, the choir and parking are free. However, donations for the upkeep of the mill are always welcomed.
Both Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June it is the Flower Festival at St. Luke’s Church at Heage. The Mill supports this event by putting flowers in the Windmill.
On Sunday 30th there will be a visit from Derwent Valley Triumph Sports Car Club from 12 noon onwards. They will be on site until the Mill closes at 4pm. The club is a Derbyshire based one. The drivers not only enjoy driving their cars but also showing them to and discussing them with others.
It is also planned to hold a bric-a-brac stall for this event.
Saturday 29th is also Heage Carnival and further details can be found out about this event on the Carnival website which is http://www.heagecarnival.com
The windmill will be open during 2019 (11-00am to 4-00pm) every weekend from
April 6th until the end of October. Large, free, car park!
