Derby Half Marathon road closures rundown
Thousands of runners of all abilities will head to Derby on Sunday 9th June for one of the East Midlands’ most popular charity road races.
The Asda Foundation Derby Half Marathon gets underway at 9.15am and is expected to raise tens of thousands of pounds for local good causes.
Starting in Iron Gate close to Derby Cathedral, it takes runners through the city centre then it’s out on London Road and Shardlow Road to Elvaston Castle Country Park, through Alvaston Park, past Derby County’s Pride Park Stadium and back to the city centre for the big finish.
Organisers, Run For All, are now informing runners, spectators, residents and visitors that a number of the city’s roads will be closed, or have access restricted, during the event to ensure the safety of all those taking part.
Among the road affected are B5010 (eastbound) A6 roundabout to Broad Lane; B5010 (northbound) Broad Lane to River Derwent bridlepath; Bold Lane, Cathedral Road, Corporation Street; Cheapside and Iron Gate.
Full details of all road closures and traffic restrictions are available at www.runforall.com.
Tristan Batley-Kyle, Run For All’s head of events, said: “We are delighted that the Derby Half Marathon is so well supported.
“Unfortunately with an event of this size some road closures are inevitable. We apologise for any inconvenienced caused and will work very hard to lift the road closures as soon as possible.”
